For the Dads

April 13, 2012

I am a big believer in finding more information on being a great dad. Ultimately it comes down to self assurance and esteem which I lack typically but especially as a dad. I am constantly asking myself, “did I handle that correctly?” Or, “how badly did I just screw up my kid? Forget the college fund; we are setting up a psychiatric help fund.

As a dad of a child who has special needs, it can be even harder. Not looking for the sympathy vote here. I have a kid that is high functioning and amazing. Instead of teaching him, he teaches me every single day.  So, one of the sites I frequent, All Pro Dad,  had a wonderful article today regarding encouragement for dads with special needs kids. Dads suffer too. Not just the mothers and this is a great reminder of the gift we have been given to raise our children, special needs or not. Let us know what you think and stay sane Dads!
