Why we do this?

April 10, 2012

I get asked that all the time.  Although I wanted to be one, I am no superhero, I just want to help.  I came across this today and I had to share.  When ZAKSMOM and I found out the diagnosis, I remember sitting there and trying to be strong while she began to cry.  I am one to say “ok, I hear you so let’s get moving (ZAKSMOM complains I show no emotion).  What can we do to resolve this?”  Let me tell you, I found it harder to get started and figure out what we needed to do than I did hearing the diagnosis.  Truthfully, I was fine with what the doctor said because I finally knew why my son was “different” (I hate saying that).  Even with the internet, there is so much information and so many different opinions it is hard to know what to do.

This video is a great start and is similar to what I felt.  There is a line you will see about “the diagnosis is a journey unto itself.”  There is no question about that.  Know that there are places and people that can help.  Rely on them but the first thing is to figure out what to do for your child and what will work best for him or her.  Enjoy the video and let us know what you think.  Stay sane.
